In this episode, I'm going to talk about:

  1. Why I started the Podcast and what it is about.
  2. What it means to "Move From Center"
  3. Three results that arise from moving from your center
  4. What to tune in for on the Podcast

Welcome to the first episode of the Move from Center podcast. I designed this podcast for the new paradigm of holistic healers, creatives, and thought leaders redefining what it means to live, lead, and create a transformational business by moving from their center. I'm your host, Dawn Strom, and this podcast is growing out of two decades of my experience, expertise, and research in embodiment, somatics, energy medicine, human movement and psychology, creative process, philosophy, and creating many iterations of my own holistic and transformational business over the last 20 years.

When I started my business back in 2005, I had just come through a deep experience of loss, losing my mother to cancer in 2000, and realizing just the effects of that loss on my life on my body, mind, and spirit, and my sense of connection and trust in the world.

And so I came out of that experience around 2002, searching for a way to heal and reclaim my center. I knew I needed to move forward. And to move forward, I needed to come home to my body and come home to myself. And this was a catalyst for me in my work and research in somatics, philosophy, dance, and embodiment.

It helped me create a path forward that came from within me, from reclaiming myself, my intuition, and my ability to turn over the soil and know that I can transform my experience. And it led to me wanting to share everything I learned with other people.

So, I started my movement therapy practice in 2005. And I started my business for two simple reasons. And one came out of losing my mom. And that was my deep desire to live my time on this earth as I wanted. I had a profound sense that you never know how much time you have, and I wanted to intentionally be able to spend my time in a way that was meaningful to me.

And not doing what I was supposed to do, or what a boss said I needed to do, or whatever. But I wanted to spend it meaningfully, and I knew that What was significant was spending time with the people I loved, pursuing my creative passions and purpose and giving something back that was uniquely mine to give. So, I started my business to live on my terms, share my wisdom, expertise, and experience, and live my purpose by creating a business.

I started out with a movement therapy and GYROTONIC practice in 2005, and my work has grown into holistic and transformational business coaching. My business has taken many iterations over the years. Essentially, though, there's been a center thread for me, and that's what this podcast grows out of.

The central thread of these last few decades has been helping professionals and entrepreneurs reclaim their center so they can live and lead from a place of authenticity and integrity.

Are you wondering what this means, reclaiming your center and moving from center?

If you're listening to this podcast, you've probably had the experience of being off-center. Being off your center has manifested on many levels for myself and my clients.

  1. On the physical level, there is often a sense of being out of physical alignment in a way that often causes pain. And also a deeper sense of being out of alignment with how they are taking care of and living in their bodies in general. So, on that physical level, clients have often come to me because they struggle with a pain pattern, feeling out of alignment in their physical body.
  2. On a Mental/Emotional level, feeling off-center has manifested for my clients as they try to return to their center and feel more peace, clarity, and self-trust. They seek a way to feel centered and regulated with their nervous systems and emotions and have more joy and optimism in their perspective.
  3. On a Spiritual Level, being off-center can feel like a sort of unrest, or like they have lost a sense of purpose or meaning, or perhaps what has guided them in the past no longer works.
  4. On a Communal level, being off-center affects your sense of relationship with the environment, others, and community and how you give back through work. I've seen manifest a lot with my clients and myself as overgiving, overworking, feeling resentment in your relationships with others, how you're giving. They often feel like they are not making the meaningful impact they desire, continuing to search for more meaning instead of just feeling a sense of deep worth and belonging.

So, on the flip side, realigning and moving from your center has often looked like this for me and my clients over the years.

  1. Physically, "moving from center" can feel like being aligned in your body, moving with strength and ease and presence, trusting your body's wisdom and intuition to know how to find your path to healing and health, to give your body what it needs and how to feel good in your physical body. And to truly feel at home in your physical body.
  2. On a mental and emotional level, "moving from center " can feel a sense of self-trust. Feeling connected to your truth and your intuition. Having perspective on your life that you can lean into so you can trust yourself to have perspective. Having core beliefs and values and a mindset that feels aligned for you. And also just knowing how to regulate your nervous system and your emotions to stay balanced and cultivate a way of being that supports clarity and aligned decisions.
  3. Spiritually, "moving from center" can feel like being connected to yourself and others and then centered on a spiritual level, feeling clear about your deep purpose, what motivates you beyond the day-to-day, and that you're part of something bigger than yourself. It can give you a sense of having that clear kinesthetic lived experience that you are connected to everything and part of a bigger, infinite purpose.
  4. Communally, " moving from center" can be an experience of being part of a bigger movement and having a clear path to give back, to be part of your community, to have meaningful work and relationships, and to co-create something with your community.

So "moving from center" on all these levels has a sense of strength, alignment, clarity, and purpose. Sometimes, "moving from center" is about returning to the center. Sometimes, it's about evolving and finding a new center. But for me, finding and moving from your center is always about being present, connecting to your intuition, your truth, and your purpose, and creating a path and a positive ripple in the world that's authentic for you, which is your unique expression.

And here's what I've seen happen when you align and move from your center over the years. I've seen three core experiences start to happen for my clients as well as myself.

  1. You grow your self-trust. Self-trust and trusting the bigger ground of energy that supports you grows and becomes a foundation for finding and moving from your center. You learn to move from what's authentic for you and make decisions in alignment with that to create your most fulfilling and meaningful expression of how you want to live your life.
  2. You learn to lean into your community and to trust others and allow that synergy of other people who are aligned with you and your path to rise up so that you can co-create a bigger movement together.
  3. And then when those two things happen, when you have the self trust and you have this sense of being able to lean in and allow yourself to have the trust with others and community, the bigger movement That you're part of and your path starts also to rise up so you can create what is uniquely yours and find a way to make an impact through your life and business.

I believe we all have a unique truth and expression to share. Moving from our center, learning how to define, align, and redefine our center is foundational to creating and expressing our true selves, creating that ripple that only we can make.

This podcast will explore the concept and the lived experience of moving from your center in life, leadership, and creating a transformational business. I will have solo and guest episodes designed to engage conversation around topics from embodiment to business strategy. Episodes will support you to realign and redefine what it means to be embodied and to live and lead from your center and create that transformational business that can channel your purpose and inspire a movement.

I am so excited to share this podcast with you and see how it evolves. So let's get started!
